A candle worth the glass it sits in.
Peculiar started from a plain irritation: most candles throw away the only part of the object that could have lasted.
There are two answers, and they are not the same product. Recycled is a jar of 100% recycled glass, the same form every time. Reclaimed is glass that would have ended in a landfill or gone unused. We give that vessel a new life, and we choose which one you get.
The numbered blends, the soy-coconut wax, the wood wick, and the Baltimore pour are shared. The glass is the division.

Parabens
Industry habit
A lot of fragrance oil is preserved the way a lotion is. Parabens — methylparaben, propylparaben — keep a water-based product from spoiling on a shelf. They are a bathroom-bottle habit. They are not what makes a candle smell like fig.
Peculiar
No parabens in the blend. A candle is wax, not water, so it does not need a cosmetic preservative. What burns in the room is the formula.
Wax
Industry habit
Paraffin. It is a petroleum byproduct, it is cheap, and it soots.
Peculiar
Soy and coconut. Soy is a plant wax and burns cleaner. Coconut keeps the pour from slumping and helps the blend hold in a jar that is not a perfect cylinder.
Wick
Industry habit
Cotton, often with a core, cut for a factory jar that is the same every time.
Peculiar
A flat wood wick. No metal core. The flame is a little wider, so the pool reaches the glass even when the vessel was never designed as a candle.

A new jar, priced to be thrown out when the wax is gone.
Peculiar
